This is the above ground facilities for the Katy Storage Hub. This facility was purchased in 2004 by Enstor, a Scottish Power company. The hub connects to 13 different Texas intrastate pipelines. Enstor uses a depleted natural gas field to store the natural gas. Giant compressors re-inject natural gas from pipelines into the old gas field. The gas field covers several square miles and extends into several residential developments. This is one of the fastest growing areas of the Houston metropolitan area. Directly accross the street is Lakepoint Estates, an upscale lakeside development where homes average around $750,000. This is an example of how energy infrastructure and residential/commercial developement, schools, and other local land uses can coexist.
