Odhams Walk (London)

United Kingdom / England / London / B402 Long Acre
council house - public housing, apartment complex

Council Houses on Shops, etc.

The youngest of all the Tenant Management Organisations in Westminster, Odhams Walk Resident Management Board was established on 1 April 2001 to oversee the day-to-day management of Odhams Walk.

Odhams Walk stretches from Long Acre through to Shelton Street, and is a peaceful enclave within the vibrant surrounding streets. Its architecture is among the most modern in Covent Garden, and is unique in its design and gardens. The building was awarded the Architectural Award in 1983 by the Brick Development Association.

During the late nineteenth century, the Odham brothers ran a printing and publishing house on the site, producing publications such as Ideal Home, Sporting Life, and the Daily Herald (now the Sun).

There is a wide age range of residents in Odhams Walk - many who moved into the flats when they were first built in 1981. Our gardening committee maintains the gardens, and both the communal and patio gardens attract small birds. The services on offer include the Age Concern day centre, which testifies to the older residents of Covent Garden and Soho many of whom have lived and worked in the area all of their lives.
