Within approx 100 metres lies a fenced and partially filled shaft. Probably part of the long disused Shakemantle Iron Mine

  • this I think is actually the old shaft for perserverance iron mine,just below above the waterline of the brook is two brick lined tunnels that go in the direction of this old shaft.paul b.
