Church of St. John the Baptist (Moscow)

Legend says that the church was constructed in 1626. The current structure dates from 1741. The western chapel is in honor of Pope Kliment of Rome and Peter Aleksandreisky. The refectory was built in 1822. The south chapel in honor of the Beloved Mother of God was built in 1875.

The church was closed in 1929. The upper level of the bell tower and the cupola were removed at that time. Later the building was used as a nursery school and then offices.

The church has not been reconsecrated.
