Chester Traincare Centre is the home for maintenance of the Alstom-built Coradia 175 DMU fleet operated by Arriva Trains Wales. The site opened in January 2000, with the first Class 175 entering passenger service on 20 June 2000, operating under First North Western Trains. The fleet was transferred to Arriva Trains Wales on 1 April 2004. From a fleet of 27 trains, Alstom provides 24 for service Monday-Friday and 23 on Saturday-Sunday. An additional train is also provided at weekends during the month of August and any weekend which occurs along with a bank holiday. Alstom has the maintenance contract up until 14 October 2018.

  • WHY ARE WE BEING TOLD THAT THE MOTIVE POWER SHED AT CHESTER STATION IS THE POSTAL RAIL DEPOT? THERE ISNT ONE. NOR HAS THER EVER BEEN SO. ROYAL MAIL SIMPLY USED TO USE THE RAILWAY STATION PLATFORM TO LOAD AND UNLOAD THIER BAGS OF MAIL ETC!!!!!!
