National Planetarium Negara (Kuala Lumpur)

Malaysia / Kuala Lumpur / Kuala Lumpur / Jalan Perdana, 53
 museum, planetarium

Kuala Lumpur National Planetarium was officially opened on 7 February 1994 by the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The architect who designed the building was S.E. Jewkes. After the recent renovation, it is now much better than the previous 1994 version. The planetarium cannot be considered very attractive, but might serves as a "touch and go point" in order to know more about the involvement of Malaysia in space programmes. If you want to spend some time far from the crowds, National Planetarium is one of the best. A full trip to the planetarium might take around one hour.

The exhibition gallery is a great mix of everything; the history of Solar System, the history of space exploration, the history of Malaysia space project, and the observatory tower. The exhibition also shows the space science experiments done by the first Malaysian astronaut, Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheikh_Muszaphar_Shukor), relating to the characteristics and growth of liver cancer and leukemia cells, the crystallization of various proteins and microbes in space. These experiments directly benefit local industries.
