Built in 1915 as a home for the social sciences, today the three-story limestone structure is used by the history and communication studies departments. It was named for Norman Wait Harris (1846-1916), a prominent Chicago banker (founder of Harris Bank), philanthropist, and trustee and benefactor of Northwestern University.
