Together with the East Corner, this is one of the last remaining pockets of affordability in the urbane, walkable part of Toronto which can properly be called the "city". Heading east from Pape, the neigbourhood ranges Greek butchers and souvlaki joints to samosa shops and North African restaurants near Woodbine. These are intermixed with Thai, Mexican or sushi place thrown into the mix. There is large, diverse Muslim community surrounding the spectacular Madina Masjid near Donlands. There is a weekly farmers’ markets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the East York Civic Centre and East Lynn Park, respectively.
