It was topped out on April 14, 1972. NCNB employees moved in a year later on April 16, 1973.
Liberty Plaza also includes a parking deck and the four-story building at 120 West Third Street.
It replaced the former NCNB/ North Carolina National Bank Building, a six-story structure built originally as a parking garage in 1917. The older structure was demolished in 1973 to make way for the plaza at Third and Liberty Streets.
