The last remaining part of the old Glasgow Garden Festival site which was one of the city's highlights of the 1980s and a key milestone in Glasgow's recovery from the post-industrial doldrums. More than anything else, it was this (and the 1990 European City of Culture award that came two years afterward) that give the city one huge shot in the arm. Sadly, to the disbelief of a lot of locals, the Festival site wasn't permanent.
Apart from a path, and one or two little bits of play park - very little evidence of those halcyon days of Summer 1988 have survived, with most of the festival site now developed into the Science Centre and Media Village.
