Two replicas of the Statue of Liberty are found in Paris, France. One stands in the Jardin du Luxembourg. Another, larger, one is near the Grenelle Bridge on the Île des Cygnes, an island in the river Seine ( 48°51′0″N, 2°16′47″E, 11.50 m (37 feet 9 inches) high. Dedicated on November 15, 1889, it looks towards the Atlantic Ocean and hence towards its "larger sister" in New York Harbor, which had been erected three years earlier. It is shown in the movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets as one of the historic locations.

The original giant statue was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi - the construction of the statue was completed in France in July 1884, in 1885-1886 reassembling in the USA was done, and on October 28, 1886, the Statue of Liberty was unveiled at last.

There is a third replica of the Statue of Liberty, which is installed at a round-about in the town Colmar, region Alsace. This town is the birth place of Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. This version of statue is slightly smaller than the one in Paris at the Île des Cygnes and larger than the human size original model in Jardin de Luxembourg.

  • This one in Paris was a gift from the American Community in 1885 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the French Revolution. It's 11,50 m high only, and had been moved from its original location and position.
  • I'm Indonesian, I hope I can meet statue of liberty....It's very wonderful...!
  • For the record, there are three Statues of Liberty in Paris, not two. The third is located at the Musée des Arts et Métiers and was the original model created by Bartholdi. If you're in Paris and have time you should visit all three.
  • In Addition, the USA gifted a same-size replica of the flame of NY's Statue of Liberty for the 200th anniversary of the revolution. It is located on the North side of the Alma Bridge.
  • The one in Métiers was not made by Bartholdi. It made from the cast he made for the one in Jardin du Luxembourg along with 11 others after Bartholdi died.
  • Wonderful, lady liberty everywhere...David McCullough features her in The Greater Journey with Paris history of many Americans who learned in Paris and then took the best ideas back to America...photo showing part of the full size statue while under construction in the streets of Paris. She is gigantic! Martha F. Barkley
  • no-where in Paris are there signs to lead to any of the statues. In fact even the river cruises stop short of the island Île des Cygnes where the largest is housed. To get to her you have to negotiate two flights of broken steps and then over a muddy path! On quite a few maps of the city they don't even mention that she is there. Disgusting. And on the tour buses again no mention of any of the replicas. Also at night they are not floodlit.
  • The Statue of Liberty located at the Île aux Cygnes is illuminated at night.
  • Yes there is.... The tour boats even stop so you can take pictures.... And she is lit up at night too!
  • Oh my goodness we were just in France with our 12 and 14 year old boys and saw all of the Statues. Such a treasure to have a little piece of symbolism from America in France. We enjoyed Luxembourg gardens immensely. Look at my blog www.definingfrance.com and search for the blog post on Bees. Here I showcase how dear the bees are to France and how they are housed in Luxembourg etc. We were very privileged to visit France.
