No, the administrative centre is at 'Ahau. Motusa used to be a bustling trade centre. The current Motusa District School, prefab-style of structure, was built & completed in 1987. The former Minister for Education Hon. Filipe Bole was instrumental in procuring the materials for the 6 classrooms. The old structure was demolished & a 'tent school' was erected across the school ground before the materials were shipped over on the 'Belama' in September, 1987. I taught at Motusa from 1981-1989. For a Maths Project, the students measured the width of the isthmus from the tidemark at the hifau tree on the Maka Bay side, across the school ground, to the tidemark on the Hapmafau side - (all in a straight line) - it was 216 metres wide.
