Built in the 1830s, this wharf was originally a busy mooring area for working clipper ships. Today the ships that tie up at the wharf are for leisure, and the old warehouse buildings that stored goods have been converted into condominiums. One can access Commercial Wharf by continuing along the HarborWalk at Joe's American Bar and Grill.

At the end of the wharf is Boston Yacht Haven, a marina with accommodations for crews. The HarborWalk at Boston Yacht Haven is well maintained with benches and binoculars, including one that is handicapped accessible, to take in the panoramic views of the Harbor as well as opportunities to check out the mega-yachts moored at the marina. One of the most obvious missing HarborWalk segments along the waterfront is at Commercial Wharf.
