Home to the Department of Theatre and Dance, the building contains two theatres: Mainstage Theatre (600 capacity) and the Gerald and Carolyn Blaney Theatre ("Blackbox Theatre", 149 capacity). There are also some classrooms and amenities that cater to the department, such as dressing rooms, green rooms, and storage space. The building was originally constructed in the 1950's, and renovations were completed in 2007. The building is named for Dr. Robert McCurdy Steele, the first president of Pennsylvania State Teachers College.
