The original Parsons School was built in 1960 during the baby boomer years and closed permanently in 1979. The building stood abandoned for 26 years until it met the wrecking ball.
A new Parsons Elementary School was built on the site of the old school and opened in August 2006. Parsons is part of the Columbus City Schools.
