Burgas Garden

At the first level of this garden, the lower Burga can be found, a late neoclassical style fountain designed by the architect Trillo by the midst of the XIX century. Includes 3 bodies, each one of them with its pipe, the center one inside an apse is at a higher level. The ancient coat of arms of the city completes the picture.

Going upstairs two sculptures can be found: "The house in the cloud" (Borrajo, 1989) and "Calpurnia Abana" (Acisclo, 1989).

At the higher level, the upper Burga, a popular style fountain build on XVII century. To the right, a set of 4 replicas of the aras found on in the city, the first honoring the ninfae of this waters.

Popular motto:

"Tres cousas hai en Ourense,
que non as hai en España,
o Santo Cristo, a Ponte Romana,
e as Burgas fervendo auga".

Public fountain, hot thermal water flows out from the earth at 67ºC (142ºF). Not good to drink and the locals mainly use it to bath in, taking bottles of the water home with them.
