Created by SHWETA MAHESH. First formed in the 8-10 foot deep pit created by the removal of soil for brick kilns, which provided the popular building material for much of the Gangetic plain, until the recent popularity and easy availability of concrete. Some of the increase in size came from removal of material to raise some of the home sites in the expanding urban development in the north-west mostly after 1980.
