Pakistan Naval Station Mehran (abbreviated to PNS Mehran) is a Pakistani naval station and headquarters of the Naval Air Arm. The base is situated in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

Terrorist Attack:
On 22 May 2011, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed that its force of 8-20 armed men had attacked the base. Aircraft stationed in the base were destroyed using rocket propelled grenades out of the Pakistan Navy's five, P-3C Orion aircraft.[1] though various claims have been made regarding numbers of terrorist only four dead bodies were practically found.

  • On 22 May, late at night, about 15 Pakistan Taliban strapped with suicide vests and armed with assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenades and explosives breached the perimeter of the base. During the ensuing siege, at least two navy aircraft were destroyed, including a multi-million-dollar PC3-Orion plane - an advanced maritime surveillance aircraft only recently acquired from the United States -. At least 14 Pakistani military personnel were killed as the militants bunkered in office buildings and traded fire with commandos rushed to the base. Six Americans and 11 Chinese, who were at the base when the raid started, were rescued and moved to a safe place. Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack. Rebel spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan said their fighters attacked the navy base to avenge the May 2 killing of Osama bin Laden by US special forces in the north-western city of Abbottabad. "We will carry out more such attacks," he said.
