Kopeshwar Temple (Khidrapur)

India / Maharashtra / Kurandvad / Khidrapur / Khidrapur
 hindu temple, historical building

This temple is very less known due to this is in Maharashtra state boundary. If it lies in Karnataka it had world wide fame and a tourist attraction. This beautiful temple is built during 7th century by Chalukya royal family ruling. The temple had very interesting stone carved sculptures all around. Just on Karnataka boundary on bank of holy river of Krishna just 25 KMs away from Kolhapur by road via Takali. More interesting thing in the Hindu culture is amazing to know, this Shiva temple has no sculpture of Nandi. Its a old Purana story tells Nandi felt ashamed to tell bad news about death of Himgauri the wife Shiva and stay away. Its belief is a Nandi sculpture can seen standing position is beyond Krishna river at Yedur Wadi village in Chikkodi Dist of Karnataka. Truly amazing to visit.
