Kunya mountain. (Kiun-Tag - the mountain of the sun). At the top of the hill is the ancient fortress with stunning views of the valley of the Yenisei.
Mount Kun - a monument to rock art, located in Khakassia. Kiun-Tag - the mountain of the sun, the worship of the god of the sun is sacred in this nation. Height of Kunya mountain is more than 400 meters. This is a huge natural fortress.
In the Bronze Age, more than 4000 years ago, people used this hill in order to hide from enemy raids. Fortress stretches along the ridge which separates the gentle slopes of the mountain from its inner part, in which could hide in the fold, women, children and livestock.Enemy was impossible to get inside the fortress on the steeps - even weak women and children could easily throw off the attackers down, brought down on their heads limestone fragments. Fragments limestone allowed to lay down a wall without a large expenditure of labor.
Ancient fortress used for millennia.
The small wall cut off the promontory for the ritual square. On the rocky cliffs of the promontory is famous Podkuninskaya Pisanitsa. In ancient drawings of Pisanitsa shows 323 figures: people, deer, goats, horses, camels, birds, bears. Drawings dated 2 millennia BC.
