Mowbray park originally had a swimming enclosure in 1920. This enclosure was constructed of wooden pilings and palings into the river. All that remains today is the stone wall along the bank and a couple of stairs leading down into the river.

Mowbray Park was named after Rev Thomas Mowbray and is the site of the earliest remaining WW1 war memorial in Brisbane.

You can still walk down to the water from the walkway beside the park. There is a CityCat (Water Transportation) terminal at this park.

  • Some locals continue the tradition of baths at mowbray park. Sure they have various mental conditions, but at least they're bathing right?
  • Its a wonderful park well patronised by locals. I love living near it.
