Former Defence land which was put up for sale in 2005, after intense lobbying by the group Friends Of Pooh Corner the area was transferred to Brisbane City Council and as a parkland reserve. As of 2010 there were significant numbers of Eastern Grey Kangaroos as well as Swamp Wallabies and Red Necked Wallabies. A number of RE's (endangered ecosystems) can be found in the area. Until the construction of sturdy steel fencing in late 2010 illegal dumping was a major issue in the area. Friends of Pooh Corner maintain a website at www.poohcorner.info/
