town, CDP - Census Designated Place
Bay View overlooks Padilla Bay, and was originally platted in 1884 by William McKenna. It maintained a separate Post Office from 1884-1954. It is the location of the Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (www.padillabay.gov/) and Bay View State Park (www.stateparks.com/bay_view.html). The state park site originally was the home of Pat-The-Us, a Noo-Wha-Ah Indian chief and signer of the Point Elliot Treaty.
