A 26 acre site, was the location of silent movie studio Cosmoart from ca 1921-1923. It was bound by Beverly on the north, 1st St. on the south, Juanita on the west and Virgil on the east. (Part of Juanita has been obliterated by the construction of a school.)

Their studio itself only occupied a small portion of the property, and the rest was used as back lot and locations. They made a single movie, "The Supreme Test" and then was a rental studio for other companies.

The famous movie star and studio owner, Charles Ray, purchased the property in 1923 with the intention of building a very large studio, shopping, and apartment complex. Unfortunately Ray went broke and the new complex never materialized.
