Phura is a village in the Tuipang sub district/tehsil/taluk, Saiha district, in the state of Mizoram. Phura is within Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC), Saiha District in southern-most part of Mizoram. It lies on the only plain within MADC area - the town is surrounded by rice fields. It is often referred as the "barn of Maraland" due to its plentiful harvest of rice from the fields. It is also the hottest place in MADC. It is only few kilometres from Pala lake or Palak dil in Mizo language, the biggest lake in Mizoram. Phura has a cosmopolitan look when it comes to its demography. Though Mara people constitute the majority of the people, there are also a good number of Matus, Mizos and other Myanmarese people who throng the town for business and other needs. It is the commercial hub for the people in the Western part of MADC area. It is also the sub-headquarters of 1). M.Ch.P (Mara Chano Py or Mara Women Organisation) - the biggest women organisation in MADC area, 2). Mara Thyutlia Py - Mara Young Organisation, the biggest young organisation in MADC area, etc.
The population in Phura village is 1,068 as per the survey of census during 2011 by Indian Government. There are 231 House Holds in Phura. There are 553 males (52%); There are 515 females (48%). Scheduled Cast are 0 (0%) Total Scheduled Tribe are 1,056 (99% ).
