Plaza Mayor (Manila)

Philippines / National Capital Region / Manila

Universidad de Santo Tomas
THE PLAZA MAYOR WAS BUILT DURING the summer of 2006. What used to be a plain-looking parking area that formed part of the façade of the Main Building is now a vast expanse reminiscent of the classical plazas of Europe. The Plaza Mayor was built as part of the university’s preparations for its quadricentennial in 2011. It aims to enhance the structural magnificence of the Main Building

  • the only thing good about this is Ricecapades...nothing better than a cheap and tasty lunch
  • well there's now space for the graduating students to assemble before the Baccalaureate Mass (this was true for my case). Also the benches across are good, though it's kinda useless when they're wet from the rain, or too hot from the sun exposure. Still, the open space does come in handy for concerts or presentations and the like which involve the main building...there have been quite a number of those since the park's construction, after all. The tiles though are not very rain-friendly...it does turn into a pond of sorts when it rains really hard >.> And I've slipped while walking through this open area...more than once (but maybe that's just me, being unlucky)
