Tiger Stadium, often called "The Corner" (as it is at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull Avenues), was a stadium located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan, USA.

Built on the site of Bennett Park, the previous home field for the Tigers (1901-1911). It hosted the Detroit Tigers Major League Baseball team for nearly a century before that franchise moved into the new Comerica Park in 2000. It also hosted the Detroit Lions of the National Football League for many years. It was declared a State of Michigan Historic Site in 1975 and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1989.

Despite efforts to preserve the stadium it was demolished in September 2009.

  • dont let them demolish it!!!!!!
  • Only a heartless, greedy, good-for-nothing snake would tear down this great piece of history. An awesome place to catch a MLB game!
  • Renovate and move the team back.
  • It looks sad sitting here abandoned. I'm a White Sox fan and even I would like to see this historic park stand forever! I know how I felt when they tore down Comiskey Park. What a shame.
  • It will be demolished by september 2008.
  • Why keep Tiger Stadium? Ebbets Field, Polo Grounds, Forbes Field, Shibe Park, Crosley Field, two different Busch Stadiums (and soon Yankee Stadium), they're all gone. Why keep a stadium standing just to satisfy the memories of some fans who are stuck in the past? Yes, it was a great place to watch a game. But so were all those other places. Stadiums go away. That's the way it works.
  • they are gonna put condos and retail stores in this place. and leave a quarter of the stadium standing.
  • Good Bye old friend. Thanks for the memories.
  • It's very sad to see such a historical landmark dissappear into the air, but BRACE UP, everyone! A local organization is planning to save a fourth of Tiger Stadium! But they must come up with the funds by August 1st, 2008, or that part of the old, famed stadium is gone for good, as will be the rest of the stadium.
  • torn down:( sad.
  • Once known as Briggs Stadium
  • Before that, Bennett Park.
  • Tiger Stadium was demolished in September 2009. Delete this tag since the aerial imagery was updated recently.
  • They tore it down, but at least they left the playing field. Yankee Stadium was taken down and the playing field ripped up. The same field where all those great memories happened. Only to put another regulation-sized playing field??? They should have left the old one and called that Heritage Field!!
  • The playing surface is still there and volunteers keep it in usable shape. They're called the Navin Field Grounds Crew. Many clubs hold games there.
