The Fauld Explosion was the site of one of the world's biggest non-nuclear explosion which occurred at 11:11am on Monday, November 27, 1944. Fauld was an RAF underground ammunition site containing over 3000 tons of explosives. The accident left 70 dead and this crater (100 feet deep and 250 yards wide).
