50 acre landfill was operated by the City of Toledo between 1958 and 1966 for the disposal of waste. The site was covered with soil and graded when it was closed but subsequent investigation determined that leachate was leaking into the Ottawa River.
Remedial action was taken in 1998 when the property was capped with a multi layer cover system to contain wastes and leachates. The 5 ac former XXKem site bordering the former municipal landfill to the south (closed in 1983) was also recapped at that time.

In conjunction with the expansion of the Chrysler Stickney Avenue plant, the City of Toledo developed the site to provide vehicle storage for Chrysler. The storage facility, including a bridge over Stickney Avenue became operational in 2007.
