Freshwater Bay is a bay with the East Coast Trail running through it. It currently has a loose talus bar which people generally walk across. There are many good spots for camping and established fire-rings however getting drinking water can be tricky as the small pond is actually salt water at high tide. There is also a ship that wreck not far from shore and therefore there is a large amount of rusted metal strewn about. The trail comes from the South Side Hills, through Freshwater Bay and then goes towards Blackhead.

  • The ship is a Portugese fishing ship that burned in 1972. If you're out on the Barachois, find the trail made of flat-rocks, it's a lot easier to cross upon. Radio equipment was found here after a fire during WWII, it's a rumoured a German agent was dropped off here by U-boat.
