Administered by India, claimed by Nepal. This is the area currently under negotiation between the India and Nepal boundary commissions. See "transnational issues" at www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geo... . Early 1800's maps clearly show the main stem of the Kali River (the boundary river) along the southwest side of the disputed area. Late 1800's British Indian maps, however, copied to present day, instead divert the boundary away from the river (conflicting with the 1800's treaty language) and follow small tributaries and then ridgelines along the southeast side of the disputed area, instead of following the main river stem as specified in the treaty. An author on India's boundaries and former Director General of the Survey of India has much information being studied by the boundary commissions at bordernepal.wordpress.com/2007/10/03/kalapani-and-susta...

  • I hope the countries resolve these issues quickly and move on to more important issues facing the country...
  • Nepalese citizen are not allowed to travel through these places in their own country by Indian Boarder Security Force .i.e. in route to holy Kailash Manosarovar.
