Berlaar is a rural municipality with a great deal of idyllic corners and remarkable monuments.
In the economic sphere the diamond industry is very important. Berlaar was able to work ist way up to becoming the largest diamond centre in the “Kempen”.
In addition, there are a number of medium-sized businesses, firmly developed, in the construction sector.
Finally the municipality holds a vast number of schools, a provincial school colony and an elderly centre.
