Medium size railway station on a busy Vilnius-Kaišiadorys railway line, serving the town of Vievis, poultry farm "Vievio paukštynas" and "Lietuvos" thermal power plant in neighbouring Elektrėnai, connected to Vievis by a spur. During the interbellum period in 20th century, when Vilnius area was occupied by Poland, Vievis railway station was the last Lithuanian station on the way to Vilnius.

Regular and fast suburban trains from Vilnius to Kaunas stop at the station.
