Substation on the former PRR electrified Main Line now run by Amtrak. Converts 138kV 25hz transmission power to 12kV 25Hz traction power for the overhead catenary.

Largest of the PRR substations forming the junction between the 2 Harrisburg Main Line (via Earnest Jct) circuits, the 2 New York main line circuits and the 2 Washington main line circuits. Powers the entire Philadelphia terminal area including the Chestnut Hill branch, 30th St Station, Suburban Station, Market East Station and the Northeast Corridor.

One of three substations to contain 138kv on load circuit breakers to isolate parts of the high voltage transmission network.
