Location of the Ekfrid Mills (built in 1834), which ceased operations in 1924. A General store (built in 1850) and post office, which was torn down in 1943. In 1930 the London Free Press started construction on a broadcast station. Two 100ft towers were built. The broadcast station was later converted to a government meteorlogical station and an enemy radio monitoring facility during World War II. Today there are three houses at this corner.
