This site, along with the neighboring swim stadium, were the original home of the Gopher's Memorial Stadium, a horseshoe-shaped stadium (nicknamed "the Brickhouse") that opened to the adjacent East Gym. There is a large hall in this building that is often used for events. The building was also featured in the music video for the Incubus song "Drive".
