The home of the B92 radio and television station. B92 was founded as youth radio station back in 1989, quickly gaining respect and popularity in Belgrade. During the 1990's it grew in importance becoming central point of opposition to communist regime of Slobodan Milosevic. During the many crises of the decade it was by far the most popular radio station in the city, and it's importance in promoting democratic values was recognized worldwide and crowned by MTV award.
After the democratic revolution of 2000 B92 finally got opportunity to broadcast tv program (which they previously produced, but had to show on other channels, members of ANEM - Association of Independent Electronic Media). After some years of battling for it's place in Serbian media market it has become third largest television station in the country, as well as number two in radio merket. B92 website (www.b92.net) is the distant leader on both national and regional level.
Growing yearly and being dispersed in several locations around the city, it was inevitable that the whole B92 system should come together in one place. The decision was taken in 2002, when a long term lease of the building in New Belgrade's Blok 30 was obtained. After a prolongued reconstruction work all of the RTV B92 moved to new facilities in mid-December 2003.
The decision to move to New Belgrade proved to be a good one. During the past couple of years the whole neighbourhood turned into new commercial centre of the city, with real-estate prices rocketing. In the immediate vicinity to the south-east now stands a tall bank building (unused ground in this picture), and all around the B92 headquarters are premium commercial and residential buildings.
RTV B92 building is currently painted in trademark brick red colour, boasting the logo of the company, and is instantly recognisable to all bypassers.
