Originally a B&Q Warehouse at the time of the retail park's opening in 1999, the trouble was it was just too close to the other B&Q Warehouse in nearby Paisley, and both stores were cannibalising each others' customers. One of them clearly had to go and this was it.....so the doors closed in 2008.
A grand game of musical stores was played in the Braehead complex which saw Sainsbury's move from their original store in side the shopping mall itself, out here to the much larger store in the retail park. Primark moved into Sainsbury's old pitch in the shopping mall, taking over the defunct Woolworths in the process.
