Village Doongh is situated in the exotic valley at the foothills of the Shivalik Range. The village is in the shape of a platform forming the base of a bowl as it is surrounded by hills and mountains from all it sides giving it a shape of deep shallow plain, the word "DOONG" as known in punjabi refers to a depression. The village has a historical importance as well as religious importance too. Firstly there is an Ancient Temple of Lord Shiva popularly known as "Mukesar" or "Muketashwar Maha Dev" on the bank of river Ravi. Secondly this place is known for being associated with the name of one Popular Freedom Fighter Ram Singh Pathania who was a contemporary to Mangal Pandey.
