Ranjit Sagar Dam

Ranjit Sagar Dam also known as Thein Dam is an ambitious project of the Govt. Of Punjab. It had been heavely funded by Central Government and the construction of this dam had provided good employment opportunity to the people of this area who are otherwise solely dependent on agriculture to earn there daily bread. This has developed in to a favourite tourist attraction while on way to Dalhousi Hill Station. Just 5km down the line is a village Doongh which has an Ancient Place from the times of Mahabharat the famous Epic of indian Mythology. Pandaves have spent a short span of time during there Agayat Vaas at this place on the bank of river ravi. they have built small caves in the mountains to shelter themselve during there short stay at this place there are two worship places of Lord Shiva in the caves built by the Pandavas . It a place worth visiting being on river benk it have a sireen and exotic view.
