City Hall (Opole)

Poland / Opolskie / Opole / Rynek
national government / government, listed building / architectural heritage, 1860s construction, Neo-Renaissance (architecture)

A wooden trade house existed in this spot until XIV century - it was renamed siege of city council and rebuilt with bricks. Trade moved outside, to a ring of smaller houses covering western wall of the City Hall. Current building is from 1864. Tower toppled in 1934 when smaller houses were destroyed, but it was rebuilt 2 years later.
Whole building and tower are modelled after Florentine Palazzo Vecchio.
