Utti fortress in Valkeala was constructed by Russians in 1791-1795. It is a small bastion-type fortress, which included also approximately ten other buildings. The operation of the fortress was discontinued already in 1809. Since the restauration of ruins began in 1980s the Utti fortress is open to public as a sightseeing place.
