Until 1822 it was a location of South Gate in city walls. After breaking down of city walls, Regierungsbezirk (regional council) building was constructed there. Beautiful building survived WWII, but was demolished in 1960s as a part of new architectural concept for Opole. That concept was never realized, except for demolition part.
