Designed by Voorhees, Walker, Foley & Smith. This building housed the United Nations from 1946-7 until the current NYC HQ was completed in 1952. Designed by noted modernist architect Vladamir Kagan. From the UN web site... "Beginning on 17 January 1946, the Council held its first 24 meetings in London. Later it moved to New York (Hunter College, Henry Hudson Hotel and Lake Success, the interim Headquarters of the United Nations."... The location was marked by a plaque until it was stolen.
