Malintang is a 1983-m-high forested stratovolcano with a caldera breached to the south. A 900 x 1500 m lake lies against the back caldera wall. The flanks of Sorikmalintang are relatively pristine and uneroded, and it most likely has had significant eruptions within the past few thousand years. The horseshoe-shaped caldera of the andesitic-to-dacitic volcano may be related to emplacement of a large debris avalanche.
