Originally named Central City Mall, this mall opened as an urban renewal project, demolishing numerous blocks (except for Harris', which opened in the late 1920s) and anchored by Montgomery Ward, JCPenney, and Harris'. Opened in 1972, it was never a huge success and being a gang gathering place drove away from shoppers. In 1991, it added a carousel and renamed to Carousel Mall, but did nothing to reverse fortunes. The anchors (all of them) pulled out, but a mid-2000s redevelopment ("Court Street West", which would reopen streets that the mall closed) never happened.

  • One of the saddest malls you will find in southern California. Empty, abandoned, not a lot of traffic at all.
  • No Shit its abandoned and I still am trying to figure out why they play music in the parking lot
