  • St Joseph's Composite PU College (Primary, High School and PU College) “Nothing succeeds like success”. St Joseph’s School at Hassan – a school with an enviable record in studies and sports – is indeed a success story of a humble beginning. To meet the needs of the people who are mainly estate workers, Fr Boniface D’Souza, SJ the then provincial of Karnataka, undertook the mission to start a school at Hassan, which is one of the important Districts of Karnataka state. Fr John Aranha, SJ an experienced person in the field of education was entrusted with this new venture. He proved, “where there is will there is a way” by starting the primary school in a rented building in 1957. Soon a suitable plot was acquired and a building was put up. The High school classes were opened in 1960. Time had come to take a new step to cope with the demand for expansion and in 1991, during the principal-ship of Fr Sunith Prabhu, SJ, a new building was put up. Co-education was also introduced during his tenure. A computer laboratory was set up in the school in 2002 when Fr J. B. Mendonca, S.J was the Headmaster. In the year 2004 the High School was upgraded into a Composite PU College with a separate Principal, Fr Melwin Mendonca. In April 2006 the first batch of PU students graduated from the College. Today, the college offers seven combinations in Science, Commerce and Humanities streams. Under the guidance of young and energetic Principal the College has excelled in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. A New PU block is on the rise in the campus already. Fr Edward Rodrigues, S.J is the present Headmaster of the School, has brought in fresh breath of air. For this academic year we have a total of 1700 students in the campus. The school has introduced English medium for the sixth standard. We also run a Hostel for the poor students of Hassan District. During the past 25 years this hostel has helped hundreds of students in accessing quality education.   • Who can forget Father Pinto, the head master and a chance to play table tennis with him. Louise Rao,Parvathamma teacher and my favourite Stanley and Father Sunith Prabhu. Thank you St Joseph's High School. You made us what we are today. The only time I played baseball was in this place !!
  • A place to study, Play and develop human values... I was a part of this wounderful place from 1990-92 under Fr. Surnit Prabhu's guidence in the Hostel and in the school. Fr. Jerald Pinto & Br. Melwin Pinto are the true leaders who have brought us up verywell, you'll made our lives beautiful. Even today I have a close contact with Fr. Melwin & Fr. Sunit in Bangalore though I am in Dubai since 4 yrs.

  • I studied in this school from 1968 to 1971.. passed out SSLC in second class. I remember some of my class mates, Narendra, Gowda .. Also still have memories of Father JB Frank.
