park, forest

Former racetrack that hosted the Swiss Grand Prix from 1934 through 1939 and again from 1947 to 1954. From the outset, Bremgarten's tree-lined roads, often poor light conditions and changes in road surface made for what was acknowledged to be a very dangerous circuit, especially in the wet. It became obsolete after the 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans, when 80 spectators were killed, and motor sport was (and is still) banned by Swiss authorities.
