Sandcastle Waterpark is the premier waterpark in western Pennsylvania, featuring several types of waterslides, a lazy river, a conventional swimming pool and wave pool, a kiddie section, a go-kart track, and a boardwalk lined with restaurants clubs, and souvenir shops. Since opening in 1989, it has gradually increased in both size and amenities, and is now the second-largest waterpark in the United States, covering 67 acres of real estate. Only Noah's Ark Family Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI is larger, covering 70 acres. Sandcastle is currently owned by Kennywood Entertainment, and is a "sister" theme park to both Kennywood Park, located about four miles south on PA Rte. 837, and Idlewild Park, located on U.S. 30 near Ligonier in Westmoreland County.

  • Start with a little Jersey boardwalk, thrown in a little exhilarating speed slides, add singularly Western Pennsylvania wooded hills sitting right across from the remnants of an industrial age come and past, and barely clad people of all shapes sizes and degrees of beauty and on a sunny day, you've got heaven. The inconguity of this water park plopped on the muddy Mon River, next to old smoke stacks five stories high only adds to the delighted surprise. A gem where you'd least expect it. I love this place.
  • this place sucks.
  • This place is fun.
