Once a premier location, Hotel Sterling is only but a shell of its former glory. The 14-story tower, Wilkes-Barre's 2nd tallest at that point, was demolished in 2006, and the rest of the structure sits vacant. Plans exist for its renovation, including a new highrise tower.
